Hy-Line North America Honored with Iowa Venture Award

West Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Area Development Group (IADG), on behalf of Iowa’s rural electric cooperatives, municipal utilities and independent telecommunication companies, honored eight distinguished Iowa companies with the Iowa Venture Award, at a luncheon held in conjunction with the Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives’ annual meeting at the Sheraton West Des Moines.

The 2015 "Outstanding Business of the Year" Iowa Venture Award was presented to Hy-Line North America, headquartered in West Des Moines. Founded in 1936 by Henry Wallace, Hy-Line North America is the largest selling egg layer in America, selling to more than 120 countries worldwide. Hy-Line is constructing a 95,000 sq. ft. egg incubation facility in Wilton that will employ 65 people. When the new facility opens next spring, it will be Hy-Lines largest hatchery, capable of producing 42 million chicks per year. Hy-Line is also adding 12 breeder flock facilities in the area to supply the fertile eggs to the hatchery. Hy-Line North America was nominated for a Venture Award by Eastern Iowa Light & Power Cooperative.

Seven additional businesses were recognized with an Iowa Venture Award for their significant contributions in diversifying and strengthening Iowa’s economy. These 2015 Iowa Venture Award recipients include: American Colloid Company of Shell Rock; Country View Dairy of Hawkeye; Heartland Co-op of Fairfield; Jones Family Dairy of Spencer; North Ida Builders, LLC and North Ida Investments, LLC of Holstein; Precision Tank & Equipment Co. of Humboldt; and The Good Eggs, LLC of Iowa Falls. Iowa Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds, assisted in presenting the Iowa Venture Awards and honoring the Iowa companies and their leaders.

For 28 years, IADG has presented Iowa Venture Awards to individuals and organizations, both large and small, in recognition of their significant contributions to Iowa's economy through entrepreneurial leadership, innovation and the creation of job opportunities. History has demonstrated that these are among the most accomplished and successful companies in the state. Together they are helping to sustain and grow Iowa’s economy.
