The 29th Annual Wilton Founders Day celebration will be held Friday and Saturday, August 28th& 29th in downtown Wilton!
On Friday, August 28th starting at 4:30 p.m. There will be flea market, crafts, food vendors, Beverage garden, Bingo and carnival rides. Bingo is being held in the wilton community room again this year!!! There is a $2.00 charge to enter the beverage garden! There are no buttons!
Local entertainment starting at 6:00 will be the River City All-Stars from Muscatine. At 7:00 the River City Music & Dance Studio will be performing. The Phoenix Marital Arts will be on at 8:00 to show you their moves. The entertainment will be held in the intersection of Maurer & 4th St. To end the evening the band DELIVERENCE will be here to entertain you from 9:00 – 1:00 a.m. Don’t miss any of this because it will be great!
Saturday, August 28th events begin at 8:00 a.m. With the Eager Beaver 5K Walk/Run. This event is open to all ages and awards are given to top finishers. There is a 5K walk, 5K run and a 1-mile run for the children. The 1-mile race begins at 9:00 a.m. Shirts and participation ribbons are available for all runners and walkers. Registration will begin at 6:45 a.m. WATCH FOR A LOCATION SIGN!!!
Stick around after the race for kid’s games. There will be a kid’s bean bag toss from 10:00 a.m. To 1:00 p.m. Also the same time is a 3-point basketball contest sponsored by the Parents for Youth.
There is going to be a BBQ Cook-off all day Saturday. To be a part in this event please fill out a booth form and turn it in to the Chamber. Categories are: Beef, Chicken or Pork and the entry fee is $30 for the first fifteen feet if you need more space there is an extra fee. You have the option of selling your product. The food will be judged by a professional chef.
Don't forget to stop by the Wilton Historic Depot, which will be open from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The depot will be closed for the parade, but immediately following the parade there will be an open house for the Grand Marshal. This year exhibits to be displayed at the Depot will be “PHOTO’S OF LAMPS/WINTER STORE”.
Candyland Amusements carnival rides will open at 10:00 a.m.
Our 8th Annual Car Show is will be held on 4th and Cedar Streets from 11 a.m. To 4 p.m. Registration starts at 10 a.m. On the corner of 4th & Cedar by Arnold Motor Supply.
The Grace United Church Harmony Sunshine Women Fellowship will have a lunch stand open from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. At 111 W. 5th St.
Bingo will open at 11:00 a.m. And will be held in the Wilton Community Room again
This year. The Beverage Garden will open at 12:00 noon. THERE IS A $2.00 COVER AND YOU MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE TO ENTER! THE BEVERAGE GARDEN WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE PARADE!!!
For those of you who like to golf, there is the Founders Day Golf Tournament at
Wahkonsa Country Club (a 4 Person Best Shot), starting at noon!
At 2:00 p.m. Is the Wilton Founder's Day Parade, with this year’s theme being “GOIN ON A SAFARI”. Grand Marshals for the parade is Don & Shirley Steffen. Everyone is encouraged to participate, especially our youth; you can register the day of the parade at the Wilton High School parking lot starting at 12:15 p.m.
Parade winners will be posted as soon as the judges have made their decisions. AGAIN, DON'T FORGET TO STOP DOWN AT THE DEPOT FOR AN OPEN HOUSE FOR THE GRAND MARSHALS!
Following the parade at 4:00 p.m. In the Beverage Garden is the Couples Corn Hole Tournament. Entry forms are available at the Chamber office or download one from www.wiltoniowa.org.
4:30 – 5:00 p.m. The Wilton Steperettes will be performing in the intersection of 4th and Maurer Streets. 5:00 – 6:00 the Samantha’s Dance Academy will show you their stuff. The Summertime band with Buck Wacker will play from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. In the Beverage Garden. Get ready to hear and dance to some great western swing music. Following them at 8 – 9 p.m. Will be Wilton’s own Megan (Hahn) Cadogan who has performed at Founders Day for 13 years. She will be singing in the Beverage Garden this year again so don’t miss her!
New this year will be a Teen Dance featuring Crashing the FM band from Durant. This event will be held in the White Pigeon parking lot from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
To end the evening, come listen and dance from 9:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m., to music provided by "BLIND ALLEY”, for the Free Street Dance.
On Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. There will be a Community Church service at the Wilton City Park. Be sure to attend!
Once again, starting at 12:00 p.m. Is the Bill Rabedeaux Memorial Golf Tournament at Wahkonsa Country Club. (4 person best shot)
